This Peanut Butter is Now Certified Plastic Neutral
It is no secret that plastic is a problem for our planet. Everyday plastic items that find their way into our oceans and forests can cause serious harm to wildlife and the ecosystem. The environment needs our help and it is important that we all work together to fix the decades of damage caused by plastic waste.
Each time you find a creative way to reuse your empty peanut butter jars or choose to dispose of them in a recycling bin instead of the trash, you are diverting plastic waste from landfills, or worse, from making its way into our environment. But sadly, too much plastic around the world is not reused and never makes it to a recycling center.
We love the planet just as much as we love peanut butter - and that's a lot! We're committed to doing our part by taking actions that lessen our impact on the planet. That's why we're thrilled to announce that Peanut Butter & Co. is now a Certified Plastic Neutral Brand!
We document all the plastic we use (from jars to lids to the shrink wrap used in transporting large shipments) and report the total amount to Plastic Credit Exchange. Then, Plastic Credit Exchange removes the same amount of plastic from the environment. The collected plastic is then recycled into new, useful products, and any plastic that cannot be recycled is used as an alternate to coal to fuel cement factories.
Plastic Credit Exchange is a nonprofit organization that cleans up all types of plastic including soda bottles, grocery bags, car parts, food containers, dishware, utensils, and toys. Learn more about Plastic Credit Exchange and their impact by visiting their website.
In 2020 we offset more than 220 metric tons of plastic. We understand that this is just a start. More work needs to be done to meaningfully reduce the amount of plastic in the environment. Many brands working together can make a difference, and we hope our actions inspire others to join us.
